Pneuma (πνεῦμα) is the Greek word for "breath" and is often used in the New Testament as the word for "spirit" or "soul". We create and move because of the divine breath coming in to us: this is the literal connection to inspire! All of our ministry needs to be Divinely “inspired” or “breathed upon” through the Spirit in order for us to live out our calling.
The Pneuma Initiative was created to inspire Evergreen to be innovative in every work of the gospel. The Pneuma Endowment Fund (formerly known as the Building Bridges Fund) acts as the source of this initiative and is committed to helping our Evergreen Association thrive in its innovative work of creating anew, renewing, transforming or all of the above.
Rev. Samuel Kim, our Associate Executive Minister for Innovation and Design, explains the idea and process behind the Pneuma Initiative.
Our Executive Minister of the Evergreen Association, Rev. Douglas Avilesbernal shares with us his conviction that innovative ministry is necessary in fulfilling our calling to the gospel.
This presentation gives a deeper explanation about the vision, theology and approaches of the Pneuma Initiative.
